Abstract
Background: We experienced two cases of advanced gastric cancer showing multiple liver metastases diagnosed with paraneoplastic syndrome.
Case: A case with Dermatomyositis was performed total laparoscopic distal gastrectomy. Multiple liver metastases appeared early after surgery. We performed chemotherapy, but he died 7 months after surgery. A case with remitting seronegative symmetrical synovitis with pitting edema (RS3PE) was diagnosed advanced gastric cancer (Stage Ⅳ) and performed chemotherapy. After chemotherapy, interstitial pneumonia developed and he was given steroid therapy. After interstitial pneumonia improved, we performed total laparoscopic distal gastrectomy. However We could performe R0 operation, multiple liver metastases appeared 4 months after surgery and he was received palliative therapy.
Conclusion: Dermatomyositis and RS3PE syndrome belong to paraneoplastic syndrome, and prognosis is known as not well. When we diagnosed these diseases, malignant tumor should be considered and performed systemic screening.
