Abstract
Metastasis from renal cell carcinoma (RCC) to the pancreas is an uncommon site. We report a surgical case of RCC with synchronous pancreatic metastasis. A 74-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of right renal tumor and pancreatic tumors. Abdominal computed tomography showed enhancing tumors in the right kidney, left adrenal gland, pancreatic head and body. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed that right renal tumor, left adrenal tumor and pancreatic tumors were low intensity on T1-weighted image and high intensity on T2-weighted image. Right RCC with left adrenal metastasis and multiple pancreatic metastases was diagnosed, and right nephrectomy, left adrenalectomy and pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy were performed. Histopathological examination revealed clear cell carcinoma in the renal tumor, adrenal tumor and pancreatic tumors. The postoperative course was uneventful and she was discharged from the hospital on the 30th postoperative days. However nephrectomy and pancreatectomy are an invasive, they are safe method for RCC with synchronous pancreatic metastasis.
