Abstract
A 35-year-old woman, who had Casarean section for 3 times, underwent elective laparoscopy-assisted sigmoidectomy. Operation was performed by using 5 ports. Although there were no remarkable changes during the intra-abdoninal procedures, sudden shock vital occurred when the extra-abdominal procedures were started. After adrenalin injection, her vital signs recovered and we could accomplish surgery. The postoperative course was uneventful and she discharged 8 days after operation. Because the result of laboratory examinations demonstrated that the serum level of latex-specific IgE antibody was elevated to 7.04UA/ml (<0.34 UA/ml), she was diagnosed as having an anaphylactic shock due to latex allergy from surgical gloves. Therefore, in laparoscopic surgery, when a patient reveals a shock vital after starting the extra-abdominal procedures, a possibility of latex allergy should be considered.
