Abstract
A 27-year-old woman diagnosed with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome was referred to our hospital due to abdominal pain and vomiting. Computed tomography (CT) showed three small intestinal intussusceptions caused by polyps. We performed an emergency operation, a partial resection of jejunum and polypectomy via small incisions in the intestinal wall to two other polyps of ileum. The pathological findings revealed hamartomatous polyps of Peutz-Jeghers syndrome.
Previous studies showed that Peutz-Jeghers type polyps could have a cause of intussusception in more than 20mm and could have high risk of malignant alteration in more than 10mm. Therefore, We concluded that we should resect more than 10mm Peutz-Jeghers type polyps.
