Assessment of gait parameters while walking in virtual space

Abstract

Using a virtual space makes it possible to measure body postures even in complex environments. In this study, we developed a virtual corridor with a corner and measured the body postures while walking in that space using a head-mounted display and its controllers. The results demonstrated that some of the gait parameters (walking speed and stride length) were equivalent to those obtained from a markerless motion capture system.
