Abstract
The comfortness of an easy chair was discussed by studying the body pressure and contact areas on seat and back-rest. The camfortness was scored in 5 rates by 4 young female subjects on the test chair with the seat tilt of 0°, 6° or 12° and with the back-rest angle of 85°-128°. The recording of the body pressure by the exudation technique with alcohol-soluble coloring matter disclosed the preference of 3-points body suport by both ischiatic turbercles and the sacral part, which corresponded to the back-rest angle of about 110°. The contact areas on the seat and backrest were drawn out on the coloring paper and measured by planimetry. The comfortable seat conditions were accompained with the shared contact of the upper part of the thigh and gluteal part with the seat as well as the wide contact of the back and the lumber region with the back-rest.
