Abstract

The basic study has been conducted to know the relation between the interior space composition and human feeling and to design the pleasant environment phychologically. The present paper is a part of the study. The effect of the physical factor (wall colour, area of surface source of light, kinds of light source, horizontal illuminance on the table, and wall texture) which is decided at the stage of planning the living space on the room-atmosphere were examined experimentally by using a miniature room. The phychological evaluation of roomatmosphere in the living room is measured with the semantic differential method, and as the results of factor analysis three dimensions were extracted. The physical factors which influenced on the room-atmosphere are explained by analysis of variance.
As the results the lighting factors including the interaction with the other factors influenced greatly to the room-atmosphere. The degree of effect which each factor exerts on each SD scale and dimension is made clear.
