Abstract
The relations between emotions and accoustical features of voice sounds have been discussed. In this paper, the waves of single vowels [e] with emotions and without them are analyzed. Thus timeseries of parameters, such as amplitude and pitch period, are measured. The emotions treated here are “surprise”, “joy”, “anger”, and “disgust”. As the results, the values of some characteristic features, such as range or change rate, are different between the emotions.
Then from the results of the analysis sound waves are synthesized with varying change rate of pitch period and of slope of spectral envelop. Using these sounds, the listening tests are carried out. The results show that in the cases of “surprise”, the change rate of pitch period has a relation with the results of the listening tests.
