Abstract
From the growth of body measurements and proportions in static sitting posture some ergonomic problem of the size for chair and desk in school children are considered. In new JIS which is mainly considered and determined based on the height of lower thigh, the height of chair is reasonable for that of lower thigh but the height of desk seems to be room for consideration from the aspect of distinct vision. Because the height of eye and that of lower thigh are in different growth pattern. The height of eye and lower thigh calculated appoproximatly from the allometric equation seem to be avairable for selection of the JIS number in chair and desk to fit the individual. It is found in the form of sitting plane in chair that JIS consider the freedom of lower extremity although the form and size of plane in JIS is not necessary to agree with those of the minimum necessary plane for men. It is believed that it depend upon the understanding of these consideration in the dynamic sitting posture whether and how do these been made a good use of in school furniture.
