This study aims to explore the eff ect and problems of adopting the forest certifi cation in Northeastern forestry regions which is called 'the old industry base area' of China. In this regard, two forestry bureaus were selected as study area. The methodology included interviewing the leaders and letting the workers fill the questionnaires. Based on the analysis of data, following facts were clarified:i) It has been emerged that the forest certification improved forest management and the impression of the company. From economic point of view, it was able to sustain the present market, and create the opportunity of new markets. It also raised the sense of protecting the natural environment, and the working environment. ii) Alongside, some problems exist there. In China there is no 'established certifi cation system' yet, so it would appear expensive facing some obstacles. Because there is no market for certifi ed goods in China, so driving to develop such domestic market is lacking. Despite, the forest company of China started to think about it and look for certifi cation, which is praiseworthy. Therefore, we can expect the government will adopt an original certifi cation system of China, and create awareness programs to make the citizen familiar with this. Also, the forest company should improve the recognition of certifi cation, and purchase of its own accord.
