Abstract

Plann. 56: 39～52, 2023　All academic “Planning” disciplines in Japan and common planning knowledges found there were searched by reviewing academic societies and textbooks. Based on the names of academic societies, there is “planning” of forests, landscapes, rural areas, cities, infrastructure（civil engineering）, architecture, and public management in Japan. Similarly, based on Japanese textbooks of “planning” in all disciplines published during the 2010s, traffic and water engineering “planning” may be added. Targets of some planning disciplines overlap and are difficult to distinguish unambiguously. All recognized planning disciplines involve public issues, and textbooks include common basic information such as the definition and characteristics of “keikaku”（plan or planning）. Textbooks of different planning disciplines include common instructive knowledge about planning-related issues such as adaptive management, becoming a mere formality, public involvement, theme resetting, and capacity building, some of which are not mentioned in the forest planning discipline. We can consult such established knowledge taught in other planning disciplines.
