Abstract
The patient was a 70-year-old woman who presented with abdominal pain, high fever and diarrhea. WBC was elevated, and G-CSF was also high. A large tumor with solid and cystic components was found on abdominal CT. Distal pancreatectomy, splenectomy, partial gastrectomy and partial colectomy were performed. Pathological evaluation showed pleomorphic type anaplastic pancreatic carcinoma with G-CSF production. G-CSF levels decreased after the resection. The tumor recurred and the patient deteriorated although adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy were given. The patient died 8 months after surgery. G-CSF producing anaplastic pancreatic cancer is very rare, and only 7 cases, including the present case, have been reported.
