Abstract
We report a sporadic intraabdominal desmoid tumor of the mesocolon transversum. A 52-year oldwoman had undergone surgery for myoma uteri at the age of 42. In September 2001, she went to a clinic forright lower abdominal pain and underwent abdominal computed tomography (CT). She was admitted for anintraabdominal tumor. Abdominal CT showed the 5 by 4 cm tumor was invasive close to the transverse colon.Barium enema, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and angiography suggested a mesenteric tumor or Schlof-fer's tumor, necessitating surgery. The tumor was in the mesocolon transversum with severe inflammationand invasion into ascending and transverse colon, so we conducted right hemicolectomy and lymph node dis-section. Histopathological examination showed a mesenteric desmoid tumor, reported as an intraabdominaldesmoid tumor.
