Agro-environment Measuring System Utilizing UAV and Field Server

Abstract

The system reducing the burden for farmers is important because farmers are aging. In the agricultural field, the burden is reducing to spray pesticides utilizing by Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and to collect environmental information utilizing Field Server connected by Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). Thus, we propose the system to measure agro-environment with the UAV and the Field Server. The Field Server can collect environmental information such as temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure. Also, the Field Server has the battery which can charge by the solar panel, and it can use without infrastructure improvement. The UAV attached a node which collects environmental information by communicating with the Field Server. The Node uses 920MHz to communicate the Field Server to avoid interference with the UAV communication frequency. In addition, environment information collected by the Node can be displayed on Google map using the script created with Python. It is possible to display on the Google Map the latest environmental information collected by the Field Server and the trajectory of the UAV flight. In this paper, proposed system confirmed usefulness from the actual agricultural field experiment.
