District air-conditioning system using ice-water slurry for heat transfer have received considerable attention recently. Ice-water slurry offers potential cost savings since the distribution system can be constructed using smaller diameter pipes. An important design factor is pressure loss for ice-water slurry flows. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate pressure losses for ice-water slurry flows for different pipe diameters. Pressure losses found experimentally by authors and others are investigated and a simple mathematical model to estimate pressure loss is proposed.
