Abstract
In magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the contrast mechanisms based on the water diffusion provide an understanding of the microscopic geometry of tissues and related tissue composition. To provide a general view of this rapidly developing area, the key concept in diffusion MRI and its potential applications are described. This article provides explains data acquisition of diffusion MRI, analysis, and visualization methods that are relevant to studying microstructure using diffusion tensor MRI.
