We investigated the physical properties of hybrid subtraction techniques by comparing their removal of motion artifacts, detectabilities of simulated vessels, and signal to noise ratio (SNR)with those of conventional temporal subtraction techniques.
Artifacts caused by gas motion were signific a ntly reduced by the hybrid subtraction. SNR of hybrid subtraction was approximately 45% to 30% of that for conv e ntional temporal subtraction.
It was confirmed that the SNR of hybrid subtraction images is improved slightly by image integration technique.
Clinical radiographs indicated that hybrid subtraction can improve the removal of motion artifacts.
