Conventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Preoperative Detection of Schwannoma Originating from the Cervical Nerve

　The surgical treatment of schwannomas is a subject of much discussion. However, no consensus has been reached regarding when surgery should be performed. We report a case where magnetic resonance imaging was used to determine a treatment strategy for a schwannoma originating from the cervical nerve. We also report on the surgical approach followed that accounts for the postoperative neuropathic pain experienced by our patient.
