The Grey Thrush Turdus cardis is a common summer visitor to the forests of foothills and low mountains in central Honshu. However, its breeding in Tokyo District has not been confirmed until recently. The author has found this species breeding in the nursery farm (Fig. 1) of Experiment Forest Station, Hachioji City, Tokyo. The place is 182m in altitude. In July 1980, two young fledged were observed. A nest containing 4 eggs was found in July 1981 (Fig. 2). Three nestlings were hatched out of the eggs (Fig. 3), but unfortunately they were forayed by a cat. The measurement of the nest is 130×150mm in outer diameter, 75×95mm in inner diameter, 45mm in depth, and 80mm in height. The nest was made chiefly of rootlets with some scraps of polypropylene tape (Fig. 4), but any musci was not used.
