Abstract

The flora of root-associated ectomycorrhizal fungi with Lithocarpus edulis was surveyed for seven areas in the Kanto and Kyushu regions, Japan. A total of 189 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) were detected across the study sites. Basidiomycota accounted for the majority with 177 OTUs, with high proportions of the lineages tomentella-thelephora and russula-lactarius, which together accounted for 45-62% of the total number of OTUs. The only OTU identified in all study sites was Cenococcum geophilum. Other OTUs identified in many study sites included Hortiboletus amygdalinus, Russula rosea, and unidentified species of the genus Russula.
