Abstract
Enostosis of the jaw usually presents as an asymptomatic lesion; however, pain such as trigeminal neuralgia or numbness rarely occurs. We describe, a case of enostosis of the mandible in a 46-year-old woman with pain and numbness.
To our knowledge, 7 cases of enostosis with pain, including ours, have been reported. Enostosis was located mainly around the root apex (type III according to the classification of Geist et al.) in 4 cases and just over the mandibular canal in 3 cases.
The pain or numbness in our case, may have been caused extension of enostosis, increasing pressure on the mandibular canal.
