Abstract
In this case, the obsessive-compulsive symptoms were caused by the pressure of having to keep up appearances in front of other people. Attempts to avoid the uneasiness felt in the presence of others resulted in obsessive-compulsive behaviors. The patient also had great mood swings, and exhibited emotional instability. We intervened by applying Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) combined with psychothrapeutic treatment. So far we have been able to alleviate the feelings of pressure and uneasiness which have been weighing upon the patient's mind, thus enabling her to gradually accept her own self. She is now capable of anticipating her behavior depending on what mood she is in. Though obsessive-compulsive symptoms still persist, the pain and uneasiness accompanying them have largely subsided, and we can say that the patient has attained a certain level of mental stability.
