Abstract
We encountered two autopsied cases of severe pneumonia caused by adenovirus. The two cases were composed of two male infants aged one month and six months. Both cases presented with ARDS, and died despite providing treatment consisting of high-frequency oscillatory ventilation, steroid pulse therapy and γ-globulin therapy.Histological findings from the lung tissue of the two cases consisted of a positive reaction with adenovirus immunostaining, necrotic bronchitis, bronchiolitis and morphology associated with pneumonia.A large number of intranuclear inclusions were observed in epithelial cells.
