Abstract

The position, form, area and surface condition of the contact facets found hi the proximal surfaces in 40 individual teeth male groups were observed and measured.
1. The contact facets were recognized in 80-100% of anterior teeth.
2. In the forms, the ellipse form was the most.
3. In the opposing correlation of forms, the types which the same forms oppose were more than the types the two different forms oppose.
4. The contact facets were in the middle of proximal surfaces.
5. The area of contact facets were about 1.0-2.6mm2.
6. In the facet surfaces, the centrally concave type was in the most in labio-lingulal and axial directions.
7. In the opposing correlation of surface condition, the centrally concave type tothe centrally concave type gained a majority.
8. The concave value indicating the degree of concavity in the contact facet surfaces was about 12-30μ.
