Abstract
The application of the light curing system to the direct relining method of the denture was considered. In this study, the new direct relining resin of the light curing system was designed, such that the relining procedure is simple and the physical properties of the resin are comparable to the heat cured resin.
New visible light curing system is composed of the organic peroxide and the light sensitizer. In this system, the energy of the light is absorbed by the light sensitizer and then the organic peroxide is activated. This activated organic peroxide becomes an activator for polymerization. Additional to the above characteristic, this material contains the new developed surface active polymer. This can improve the physical properties and the manipulability of the material.
The manipulation for the denture relining by the new material is quite simple. The material comes in dough stage packaged in black sheets. This dough material is pulled out and directly applied to the clean or ground mucosal surface of a poorly fitting denture. At this step, it is used as one of functional impression materials. After the functional impression, the ough material adhered to the denture is cured by visible light. By this method excellent fitness of relined denture can be obtained.
In this article, physical properties of the new material were discussed and this material proved to be quite effective clinically as a denture base relining resin.
