Abstract
In this study, we report a case of pulmonary arteriovenous fistula (PAVF). A 52-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of a tumor shadow in the left lower lung field. CT scan revealed and 8 mm wide tumor with well-defined margins and smooth contours in the left lingular segment. Three-dimensional CT (3D-CT) revealed PAVF along the feeding artery and the drainage vein. The patient did not show any symptoms and had no family histories associated with Rendu-Osler-Weber syndrome. We performed partial pulmonary resection by video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS).
3D-CT facilitated the evaluation of the structure of PAVFs and the selection of treatment procedures. VATS was effective for treating such a small and simple PAVF existing right under a pleura.
