Abstract
A 66-year-old woman was operated on for ascending colon cancer in October 2001. Histopathologically, the diagnosis was mucinous carcinoma, pSE pN0 Stage II. In August 2002 abdominal computed tomography (CT) showed recurrences in the lower right kidney and sigmoid colon ; a partial resection of the small intestine, a sigmoidectomy, a partial resection of the transverse colon, and a right ovary rerection were done. In January 2003, tumors invading the abdominal wall on the right side of the umbilicus and the pylorus of the stomach were found ; a tumorectomy and distal gastrectomy were performed. On intraoperative pathology, two of the small nodules which were found in the abdominal cavity were diagnosed as metastases ; the other small nodules were diagnosed as inflammatory nodules. Adjuvant chemotherapy was given but had to be terminated due to side effects. Currently, the patient is healthy without disease recurrence ; it has been seven years since the last operation.
