Abstract
The case involved a 61-year-old woman who had undergone removal of a tumor with associated resection of the inferior vena cava and blood vessel prosthesis implantation with a diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma of the inferior vena cava. Two years and 3 months after the operation, she underwent removal of a recurred tumor and blood vessel prosthesis implantation for local recurrence. Further three years after the initial operation, PET-CT revealed abnormal uptake of fluorodeoxyglucose at the pancreas tail. Abdominal CT scan showed a 17-mm diameter tumor with the enhanced margin. EUS-FNAB diagnosed it as a tumor arisen in the smooth muscle. Spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy was performed. The histopathological diagnosis was pancreatic metastasis of leiomyosarcoma of the inferior vena cava. The patient has been alive without recurrence as of five months or three years 10 months after the operation or after the initial operation, respectively.
