Abstract
A 68-year-old man was admitted due to black stool and epigastralgia. Emergency gastroscopy showed excessive bleeding in the stomach. On the following day, the patient was re-examined, and a submucosal elevation with blood vessel exposure on the top was found in the middle body of the stomach. Clips were put on this area to prevent further hemorrhage. CT scan and angiography findings were compatible with arterio-venous malformation of the stomach. On day 11, there was a massive hemorrhage again, and emergency arterial embolization was performed. Because of the persistent bleeding, the patient was referred to our division, and surgical resection of the remnant stomach was performed. The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient remains in good condition without any hemorrhagic event until today. We present this case and include a review of the literature.
