Abstract
The patient was a 91-year-old man with many comorbidity. He palpated a 3.5 cm tumor in the subareolar region of the left breast and was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma by core needle biopsy. He was treated with letrozole as primary therapy. In 6 months after treatment, the tumor reduced to 1.7 cm. There is little evidence regarding the treatment of male breast cancer because of its uncommon occurrence. Therefore, the treatment of male breast cancer is modeled on the treatment of female breast cancer. Recently, aromatase inhibitors have become the first choice of endocrine drugs for hormone-sensitive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. However, the efficacy of aromatase inhibitors in men has not yet been established. We report a case of male breast cancer that showed response to letrozole monotherapy.
