Abstract
We experienced a relatively rare case of complete appendix intussusception accompanied by appendix adenoma. A 78-year-old man with fecal occult blood received a colonoscopy examination at a local hospital. Villous-like masses at the cecum were discovered ; therefore, he was admitted for therapeutic purposes to our hospital. The abdominal mass was not palpable. Wall thickening of the cecum was seen on a CT scan and villous-like masses raised from the appendix orifice were seen in a colonoscopy. Malignant findings of the biopsy were not conclusive ; thus, he underwent laparoscopic ileocecal resection due to a possibility of early colonic cancer. In the resected specimen, the appendix was introverted completely. The appendix intussusception was as that Atkinson described in 1976 as the E-type. Obvious malignant findings in the pathological diagnosis were not discovered. The postoperative course was a discharge in good health at 14 days postoperative.
