Abstract
A 78-year-old man was found to have a thoracic aortic aneurysm at the distal arch, an abdominal aortic aneurysm under the renal artery, and occlusion of the right external iliac artery. By using a 10-mm artificial vessel anastomosed to the right common iliac artery as the access route, we performed thoracic and abdominal endovascular aortic repairs. No postoperative complications occurred, and the patient was discharged from our hospital on the 11th postoperative day.
With a further increase in aging population who need surgery, they may increasingly have combined thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, or arteriosclerosis obliterans combined with aortic aneurysms. In this paper, we describe a case of combined thoracic and abdominal arterial aneurysms associated with right external iliac artery occlusion for which an immediate endovascular surgery using an artificial vessel as the access route was successful.
