Abstract
We report a rare case of resectable solitary lung metastasis from pancreatic cancer in which preoperative ultrasound-guided needle biopsy was useful for limited surgery.
The patient was a 66-year-old man who underwent pancreatoduodenectomy for pancreatic cancer. An isolated pulmonary nodule in the right S9 was pointed out on PET-CT scan 19 months after the pancreatoduodenectomy. Microscopic findings of the ultrasound-guided percutaneous needle biopsy specimens suggested the nodule to be a metastatic tumor rather than primary lesion. He underwent partial resection of the right lower lobe 26 months after the pancreatoduodenectomy. Immunohistochemical findings showed lung metastasis from pancreatic cancer. The patient has had no other recurrences, as of 20 months after the pulmonary resection.
