Academic exchange between the Japan Society of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (JSAM) and the Chinese Medical Association of Acupuncture (CMAA) in Taiwan began in November 2024, facilitated by the Korean Acupuncture and Moxibustion Medicine Society (KAMMS). As part of this initiative, three members of the JSAM International Department-Wakayama, Tsuru, and Masuyama-were invited to and attended the CMAA General Assembly held in Taichung on February 1, 2026. While there has been prior interaction with Taiwanese acupuncture researchers at the International Congress of Oriental Medicine (ICOM) and meetings of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS), official institutional-level exchange has only recently commenced. This article outlines the presentations delivered by representatives from Japan, Korea, and Taiwan at the general assembly and discusses the future outlook for trilateral academic exchange. JSAM intends to continue prioritizing this trilateral collaboration, which now includes Taiwan in addition to Korea, to further advance acupuncture and moxibustion research in East Asia
