The deformations of the wing sections and the skins of a high speed airplane will give a great effect on it's aerodynamic performance. Those are caused chiefly by the flight loads and the thermal stresses. In this report, the fundamental equations for a plate which is subjected to a non-uniform temperature distribution over its surface and external forces in its middle surface and the surface pressure, as being seen in outer skins of airplane wings and fuselages, have been derived.
The stress state and the deformation of a rectangular plate under a non-uniform temperature were analyzed and as a special case the conditions of the thermo-elastic buckling were derived.
