Anesthesia for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation and the Role of the Heart Team

Abstract

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation（TAVI）in Japan started in 2013. Since then, an increasing number of institutes throughout the country have been performing TAVI and the number of surgeries has steadily increased. TAVI has spread in our country due to the accumulation of experience by heart teams and the improvement of devices. An anesthesiologist, as a member of the heart team, is expected to contribute to safe surgery, early postoperative recovery, and efficient operation of the surgery unit.
