Abstract
We report the cytologic and histological features observed in two cases of malignant cystosarcoma phyllodes of the breast. Two women patients, who were 47 and 39 years old, were admitted with right breast tumor accompanying ulceration and hemorrhage. A standard radical mastectomy was performed under the diagnosis of breast cancer. The smear of these tumors showed sheets of uniform epithelial cells and spindle-shaped cells. Variable shapes of malignant stromal cells with marked atypia were also seen. Histologically, features of both malignant and benign cystosarcoma phyllodes were found, the former was composed of different types of sarcoma. In handling cystosarcoma phyllodes, special care should be taken as to the site where biopsy and cytology materials were obtained.
