Study on Simplified Estimation of Snow Storage Volume using Degree Day Method

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to propose degree day method for the snow storage in order to evaluate an optimum storage volume for snow and ice utilization systems. First, we calculated coefficients for evaluation of the optimum storage volume of snowy cold regions in Japan. Second, the proposed method was applied to various building types and space cooling demands, and the relationship between the thermal insulation performance and the snow storage volume was presented.
