Abstract

The work of a CLINICAL VASCULAR TECHNOLOGIST(CVT)ranges from non-invasive diagnosis and assistance in the field of vascular diseases to assistance in invasive diagnosis and treatment by a physician. Physical therapists provide exercise therapy to restore or maintain basic movement skills and to prevent the worsening of disabilities. Among vascular diseases, physical therapists are most frequently involved in lower extremity arterial disease, second only to aortic disease. Several guidelines have been published regarding the effectiveness and importance of exercise therapy for patients with intermittent claudication and comprehensive severe chronic lower extremity ischemia. On the other hand, the number of physical therapists who hold a CVT is rare, with only 24. We believe that having specialized knowledge of the vascular system and being able to use a common language with multiple professions will assist in the early detection and evaluation of the effectiveness of treatment. We want as many healthcare professionals as possible to know about CVT. We would also like to help as many podiatrists as possible to maintain their QOL and gait.
