Abstract

Lower extremity amputation is associated with reduced quality of life (QOL) and high mortality. Certain occupations may have increased risks of amputation. This retrospective study examined the association between occupation and amputation risk in 83 patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) or diabetic foot ulcers(DFU). Among 96 amputations, 18% were unemployed and among those with jobs, 44% had standing jobs and 49% had sedentary jobs. These findings suggest that occupational factors influence amputation risk. Further research is needed to refine risk assessment and improve workplace conditions.
