Abstract
Numerical simulations of flood and inundation contribute to variety application fields in the Mekong studies. These models depend on recent fruitful global data sets and digital elevation models (DEMs) such as GTOPO30. The BTOP-MC (Block wise TOP model and Muskingum-Cunge routing) model using DEMs, can give us accurate runoff in the Mekong River watershed in spite of a large area basin. Also an inundation model composed of the dynamic wave model in channels and the non-uniform flow model can show us a good agreement of the flooded area around Phnom Penh in Cambodia. Moreover, some improvements have developed the models to express detailed hydrological processes in practice. We introduce these improvements and applications that numerical flood simulations help water resources and environmental managements in various fields in the Mekong River basin.
