Abstract
The determination of the quantities of water to be supplied from reservoirs occupies an important place in water supply management. In the study reported here, fuzzy logic was applied to the construction of a support system for this work and an assessment was made of the validity of the system. Experts actually engaged in the determination of the reservoir supply were interviewed and a fuzzy inference model was constructed on the basis of the decision-making processes employed by them, using special indices for factors defying numerical representation, such as weather forecasts. For the verification of the model, the storage volume curves obtained through calculations on the model using observation data were compared with the actual measurement results. The close agreement between the calculation and measurement values gave an indication of the validity of the system developed as a support system.
