Abstract
Japan has been promoted the policy on industry-university collaboration since 1988, when "the Law on Promotion of Technology Transfers from U. to I." was established. I-U collaboration in Japan has been greatly developed in the last decade. On the other, various problems have been made known. In order to generate innovation, Japan's university-system needs further evolution and reformation, and business enterprises should commit to collaborate with universities for commercializing fruits of university's researches. It is also important for sustainable development of I-U collaboration that universities should upgrade their education and research activities through I-U collaboration. I hope that every involved person would act for one's interest and further development of I-U collaboration.
