In this paper, we propose a flower layout support system that uses 1) basic rules for arrangement and color schemes to handle the knowledge for flower layout, 2) a virtual reality entertainment interface to present flower layout plans for a user, and 3) interactive evolutionary computation to consider user's evaluations. In the proposed system, choice probability is given to each basic rule. The proposed system produces flower layout plans by using basic rules chosen probabilistically, presents them to the user through a virtual reality interface, and waits for user's evaluations of them. Receiving the responses from the user, the system reflects the user's evaluations in the choice probabilities and in the flower layout fitness evaluations that are originally valued by basic rules. Then, new flower layout plans evolve based on the new choice probabilities and the new flower layout fitness evaluations on the evolutionary computation. When the user repeatedly evaluates layout plans, without technical knowledge for flower layout, the flower layout plans with the user's preference and KANSEI are gradually obtained. Additionally, the user comfortably continues evaluation with the assistance of a virtual reality entertainment interface even though its operation takes long periods of time. A series of experiments is carried out to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed system.
