Abstract
This paper reports the effect of complex calcium oxide named KSX admix ratio on mechanical properties and machinability under various cutting-speeds for Fe-Cu-C sintered steel. KSX improved machinability without deterioration of mechanical properties up to 0.3mass% addition. The flank wear of 0.1mass% KSX reduced by 70% compared with base material at a slower cutting speed of 150m/minute. As for a faster cutting speed of 250m/minute, the flank wear of 0.3mass% KSX reduced by 65% compared with base material. 0.2mass% or more addition of KSX restrained crater wear up to 20 minutes of cutting time.
