Single crystal growth and micro-texture of High-Tc Superconductors

Abstract

The methods of single crystal growth of well-qualified high-Tc Superconductors [La₂CuO₄ type and ABa₂Cu₃O_7-δ (A=Y, Eu, Er, Dy, Ho, Yb)] were described. The growth mechanism of these crystals was analysed to be a lateral growth type by surface microtopographic observation of as-grown surfaces. The crystals show many spiral layers with giant Burgers vector, whose origin was discussed in terms of the crystal habit.
