Abstract
The transport Jc of YBa2Cu3Ox increased with sintering temperature and after a maximum of 1100 A/cm2 turned to decrease. Microcracks and second phases such as BaCuO2 and CuO along grain boundaries were observed. Magnetizatin measurement showed that single crystalline YBa2Cu3Ox made by a melt technique was almost free from weak links as differed from sintered samples. Clear specific heat jump at Tc was observed for YBa2Cu3Ox giving about (Δ Cp/Tc) of 52 mJ/mole·K2. Cu 2p core-level XPS spectra of YBa2Cu3Ox exibited a two peak structure. The higher (satellite) and lower (main) binding energy corresponded respectively to 2p3d9 and 2p3d10 L final-state configurations.
