Abstract
Thin Plates of BGO single crystals which have good opto-electric properties were grown by EFG method. By using a box-shaped crucible instead of a cylindrical crucible, the horizontal temperature gradient of the top of the die was decreased within 3°C. Consequently, a large thin plate of BGO single crystal with a good quality was stably grown. The size of the crystal was a width of 32 mm, a length of 40 mm and a thickness of 2 mm. The extinction ratio of the crystal was larger than 2000.
