Abstract
Defect-free and homogenous PLZT ceramics were prepared by vacuum sintering and succeeding HIP. Maltilayer shutters and small size switching elements were made by using the PLZT. The maltilayer shutters have a polarized ratio of 0.989 at wavelength of 545 no. The switching speed which exceeds 10 nano-second was observed in the small size switching element.
