Abstract
A case of cervical neuroblastoma in an 8-month-old infant, who showed increased level of VMA in urinary screening program, is reported. Although right ptosis occurred 5 months after birth and her urinary VMA level was abnormally high, she was not diagnosed correctly until the cervical mass occurred. Cervical CT findings revealed displacement of the air way and involvement of the great vessels. So chemotherapy was preceded immediately after admission resulting in the remarkable reduction of the tumor size. After 3 courses of chemotherapy had been accomplished, tumor extirpation was performed safely. The tumor arised from the right superior cervical ganglion. The patient is free from disease at 5 months after operation and doing well. However, Horner's sign still remains. Cervical neuroblastoma is less common. We gathered 28 cases from Japanese literature, and discuss the characteristics of this disease.
